TuitionCheck

What we refuse to link, and the two links we are paid for

No bootcamp is linked here at any price, including the ones that would pay well. Two self-paced subscriptions are. Everything we turned down is named.

The rule this site is built on

No coding bootcamp is linked from TuitionCheck, at any price, in any form. Not the schools that run live affiliate programmes and would pay us for your enquiry or your enrolment, and not the ones with no programme at all. The reason is simple enough to state in one sentence: a site that tells you whether to spend fifteen thousand dollars on a school cannot be paid by the school.

That is a refusal with a price tag on it. The programmes we are declining are real and, by the standards of this subject, lucrative — one pays per qualified enquiry whether or not anybody enrols, another pays a share of tuition running to hundreds of dollars per enrolment, a third pays per lead. They are named on these pages wherever they are relevant, with their published tuition where they publish any, and none of that placement is for sale.

What we are paid for

Two links, both to self-paced learning subscriptions, both marked as paid where they appear:

  • Zero To Mastery — a subscription platform. If you subscribe after following our link, it pays this site a share of what you pay it.
  • Treehouse — the same arrangement, on the same terms.

You pay either company exactly what its own pricing page says; the commission comes out of their side. Both were chosen because they are a genuine answer to the question this site exists to ask, and because both printed a United States dollar price we could read and date. Neither has seen a word of this site before publication, and neither can change one.

What we turned down, and why

Two platforms we could not price

Scrimba and Boot.dev both run programmes this site could have joined. When we opened their pricing pages in a browser pinned to United States locale and New York time, both answered in Armenian dram — Boot.dev under a banner reading 74% PPP discount, Scrimba under a line saying the price is discounted by region. We print prices we have seen, in the currency we saw them in. A subscription whose real price we could not establish is not one we will take a commission to recommend, so both are named in the writing and neither is linked.

Two schools left unnamed, for opposite reasons

One school widely described online as having shut down was, on 24 September 2026, live and taking applications for a dated cohort, with no closure language anywhere on its site. We are not going to repeat a closure we cannot see, so it is absent. A second school's site carries a full catalogue of programmes and, beside its legal links, a notice that it is ceasing operations — so the closure is real, but the date every article gives for it is not on that page, and we do not print dates we have not read. It is absent too.

We got the second one wrong at first, by reading the top of the page and not the bottom, and we corrected it before publishing. The method that failed is now written up as a reader's checklist in what happened to the bootcamps people ask about, because it is a mistake anyone comparing schools can make in exactly the same way.

It does not buy a position, a recommendation or a sentence. The free options are named first on the page where they are the better answer, and they pay nothing — freeCodeCamp, The Odin Project, and the tuition-free programmes that describe themselves that way. Where the honest answer to a question is spend nothing, that is the answer printed.

How to hold us to this

Every paid link on this site is an ordinary link to a /go/ address on this domain, marked as sponsored, and there are exactly two of them. Count them. If you ever find a bootcamp behind one, this page was rewritten first and you can hold the change up against it.
